Who Qualifies?
✅
Open to Everyone — New Job Must Be Through TRCYou do not need to have worked with TRC before. However, the new position for your extension must be with a TRC-affiliated employer. We cannot extend your status with your current employer unless they are already a TRC client.
✅
Valid Temporary Work VisaYou are currently in the U.S. on an active, compliant visa (such as H-2B) with no status violations.
✅
Extension-Eligible Visa CategoryYour visa classification must permit extensions under U.S. immigration law.
✅
Contract Completion RequiredYour current placement must be completed before a new one can begin — early departure disqualifies you.
✅
3 Months Advance NoticeTRC must be notified at least 3 months before your contract end date to file on time.
Important: TRC welcomes extension requests from all eligible workers — even those who have never worked with us before. The only requirement is that your new placement must be with a TRC-affiliated employer. We cannot extend your status to remain with a current employer who is not in our network.
Deadlines & Timing
Timeline Requirements
1
Notify TRC at Least 3 Months Before Contract End
This gives TRC enough time to source your next placement, prepare documentation, and file before government deadlines.
2
Complete Your Current Contract
Extensions cannot be initiated until your current placement is finished. This is a U.S. immigration requirement — not discretionary.
3
Late Submissions May Incur Additional Fees
Last-minute or urgent filing requests may carry added costs. Early planning avoids this entirely.
4
Hard Deadline: 1 Month Before New Start Date
After this point, extensions cannot be guaranteed. TRC is not responsible for status gaps resulting from late notification.
Don't Wait
Immigration processing windows are fixed. Late notice puts your work authorization — and your U.S. future — at risk. Contact TRC the moment you know your contract end date.
