The H-2B visa is a temporary work visa that allows U.S. employers to hire foreign workers for seasonal, non-agricultural jobs. It is commonly used in industries like hospitality, landscaping, construction, food service, and warehousing.
TRC connects qualified international candidates with vetted U.S. employers who are sponsoring H-2B positions — handling the immigration process from start to finish on your behalf.
Initially up to 9 months, with the ability to extend up to 3 years total. TRC offers visa extensions for current program participants. See our Visa Extensions page for full details.
You must return to your home country unless you have transitioned to another visa type (such as EB-3) or secured a different legal immigration status. You may also file an extension through TRC if you remain eligible.
TRC will work with you throughout your program to explore all available options for your next steps.
Yes — and that is exactly what TRC's EB-3 pathway offers. You can work on your H-2B while simultaneously pursuing permanent U.S. residency through the EB-3 program. Visit our EB-3 page to learn more.
No. Basic English communication is helpful, but TRC works with candidates across all English proficiency levels. During the application process we will assess your communication skills and match you with a role that is appropriate for your level.
TRC will work with you to understand the reason for the denial and explore options, which may include reapplication or alternative pathways. Denial rates are generally low when candidates have proper documentation and preparation — which is why TRC handles the entire process on your behalf.
The $205 is your U.S. Embassy visa application fee — it is a government fee, not a TRC fee. TRC collects and submits it on your behalf for several important reasons:
- Fraud protection: Due to bad actors in some countries using this program to scam unknowing applicants, routing payments through TRC ensures your fee reaches the correct government channels safely.
- Error prevention: TRC's immigration team processes every application on your behalf to avoid errors that could cause delays or denials.
- Group submission: We submit candidates in groups, which accelerates the overall process compared to individual applications.
- Employer confidentiality: Our employer clients require that all applications be processed in-house to ensure maximum confidentiality and compliance.
TRC operates under a strict no-refund policy. It is important to understand what your $205 payment represents before submitting it.
You are not paying TRC for a job. You are paying your U.S. Embassy visa application fee. Once that fee is submitted to the U.S. government, it cannot be returned — the Embassy does not issue refunds under any circumstances.
If you withdraw from the program: Rather than receiving a monetary refund, you will receive a cancellation letter from the U.S. Embassy. You have two options:
- Use the cancellation letter toward a future visa application
- Forfeit the fee entirely
Housing is $150 per biweekly paycheck, deducted automatically from your paycheck. There are no upfront payments required — you do not pay anything for housing before you arrive.
Your employer arranges and covers your accommodation setup. The $150 biweekly contribution begins once you start working.
No. TRC does not charge candidates recruiting or placement fees. The only payment candidates make is the $205 U.S. Embassy visa application fee, which is a government fee submitted on your behalf.
Some applicants may qualify for the Interview Waiver Program (IWP), which allows you to submit your visa application by mail rather than appearing in person at the U.S. Embassy.
When you create your account and pay the applicable fees on the visa website, the system will ask you a series of questions to determine if you are eligible. If the website directs you to schedule an appointment, you have not qualified — TRC will also let you know if you are eligible ahead of time.
- Processing time under IWP: Approximately three weeks
- If you have urgent travel within 3 weeks: You will need to interview in person at the Embassy instead
- If you do not qualify: TRC will select the soonest available interview date and automatically add you to our visa interview prep session to make sure you are fully prepared
Your employer handles all accommodation. The specifics depend on where you are located:
- If you have a U.S. Embassy in your country: Your employer does not cover in-country travel to the Embassy — you are responsible for getting yourself there.
- If the nearest U.S. Embassy is outside your country: Your employer covers your flight and housing accommodations to reach the Embassy.
- Regardless of your location: Your employer covers your travel accommodations to America and transportation from the airport to your housing upon arrival.
The visa process typically takes 2 to 6 months from the time of application. Timelines are subject to U.S. Embassy processing times and immigration policy, which are outside TRC's control.
TRC will keep you updated at every stage of the process. Submitting your application early and ensuring your documents are complete and accurate is the best way to avoid unnecessary delays.
Your sponsoring employer handles all accommodation arrangements. You will arrive in the U.S. with housing already in place — there is no scramble to find somewhere to live on your own.
The housing fee of $150 per biweekly paycheck is deducted from your earnings once you begin working. There are no upfront costs.
At this time, only married couples are permitted to be housed together. There will be no co-ed placements and no family placements beyond married couples.
It depends on your background:
- First-time H-2B applicants: An in-depth interview is required. TRC will use this to assess your qualifications, experience, goals, and fit for available positions.
- Returning H-2B participants: A brief alignment interview is conducted to discuss your goals, any changes to your situation, and your next placement.
- Internal referral program candidates: A brief alignment interview only — the referral process shortens the screening requirement.
TRC is dedicated to staying with candidates every step of the way — from application all the way to America, whether you are new to the program or a returnee. The Aftercare Program is a series of sessions designed to set you up for real success once you arrive.
Aftercare sessions include:
- Job training — preparing you for your specific role and workplace expectations
- Visa interview prep — so you walk into your embassy appointment confident and ready
- Overseas culture assimilation — practical guidance on navigating everyday life in the U.S., from workplace norms to financial basics to community resources
If you choose to withdraw after your payment has been submitted, you will not receive a monetary refund. Instead, you will receive a cancellation letter from the U.S. Embassy that you may use toward a future visa application, or you may choose to forfeit it entirely.
Completing your contract is a legal requirement of the H-2B visa program — not just a TRC rule. Leaving a placement early violates your visa terms, and TRC cannot process any extensions or future applications for candidates who abandon their placements.
If you are experiencing a serious issue with your placement, contact TRC immediately. We will do everything within our power to address the situation properly.
TRC is a registered recruitment company working directly with vetted U.S. employers and processing all applications through official U.S. government immigration channels. We work with an in-house immigration team and only submit candidates through verified, legal pathways.
Red flags of a scam to be aware of:
- Anyone asking you to pay a recruiting fee — TRC never charges this
- Anyone promising a visa without an interview or process
- Anyone asking you to send money via informal channels (Cash App, wire to personal accounts, etc.)
